Bruce McIver, J.D., Ph.D., is the owner of McIVER LAW; he is a solo practitioner admitted to the practice of law in California in 2004.

As a retired University English Professor, Bruce McIver brings a unique literary background to his Estate Planning practice.

He has held teaching positions in English at Reed College, UCLA, Union College, the University of Kent at Canterbury, the University of Ljubljana, and UCSB. He retired from the University of California in 2003.

Following this fulfilling career in teaching and publishing, Bruce McIver entered Law School at Santa Barbara College of Law, graduating Cum Laude in 2003.

He was admitted to the California Bar in 2004. He was commissioned as a Notary Public in 2005 by the California Secretary of State.

In addition to his law practice, Bruce McIver publishes a historical legal column on the wills of literary titans, including Charles Dickens, Samuel Johnson, John Milton, and William Shakespeare.

The goal of McIVER LAW is to help clients of diverse backgrounds, both individuals and families, protect their assets during their lives as well as plan for the orderly transfer of their wealth upon death, by both maximizing the savings and minimizing the cost to their estates.
